The Norwegian Grocery Authority promotes probity, predictability and loyalty in contractual relationships between traders in the grocery industry. 

Our vision

Norway shall have a grocery industry that is a role model for good commercial practices in other trade industries.

Main goal

The Norwegian Grocery Authority enforces the Act relating to good commercial practices in the grocery supply chain. Our main goal is to have a grocery industry characterised by good commercial practices, based on probity, predictability and loyalty.

The Authority was established in 2021 and is administratively subordinate to the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.

We have six employees and are located in Porsgrunn.

Act relating to good commercial practices in the grocery supply chain

The Act shall contribute to the effective utilization of society's resources and safeguard consumers' interests by promoting probity, predictability and loyalty in contractual relationships between traders in the grocery industry.

The Act applies to negotiations and agreements that are made, have effect or are suitable to have effect in Norway.

The Act has been translated to English as an unofficial translation of the Norwegian version of the Act and is provided for information purposes only. Legal authenticity remains with the Norwegian version as published in Norsk Lovtidend. In the event of any discrepancy, the Norwegian version shall prevail.
